White Rock – 23.02.2020 [it]

[en] After a diversion to see the remains of an Israeli-made Argentinian plane under French licence, the 4×4 trip to White Rock along a runway, if it can be seen, takes about 2 hours…

On the spot, we discover a large colony of cormorants that we can observe very closely, the youngsters even come within a metre, perhaps taking us for a relative. The parents arriving from the open sea are teased by the “little one” to provoke the regurgitation of the fish which is eaten by pushing the beak and the head into the gullet of the parent who, once the operation is finished, runs away followed by his son.

Around and inside the colony there are also other birds (skua, vultures, …) which “take advantage” of the cormorants. But also a small colony of rockhopper penguins.

In the meantime, the news from Europe and especially from the north of Italy are starting to worry us more and more, but we are not lucky enough to get much information because at the lodge there was only one card left for internet access (slow and expensive).
